Attempting to go mobile at Demo Mobile

Network World Fusion, 09/19/02

We're back in the swing of things regarding traveling, so I've decided that I wanted to be more mobile this time around, especially since I'm at the DEMOmobile conference. I have a lighter notebook (The IBM ThinkPad X30 with integrated wireless LAN features), and am carrying along a Handspring Treo 300 connected to Sprint's new Sprint PCS Vision network. I've also got the trusty RIM BlackBerry for my e-mail, and my non-work cell phone (a Sony Ericsson T60LX). I also have the Novatel Wireless PC Card that also connects to the new Sprint network for wide-area wireless network coverage from my hotel room.
Anyway, I was thinking about not bringing the older and heavier notebook with the dial-up service, but decided to bring it along as a safety net. And of course I'm now writing this connected to the dial-up service, as we're still working on configuring the new Sprint card, and we haven't connected to the wireless LAN yet (as the show doesn't officially open until Thursday).
On the device side, the Handspring Treo is working well, and the BlackBerry has kept me informed of all my e-mail. Still, I'm positive that this may be the last night of the heavier laptop for the rest of this trip. More updates as we get configured.
