Intermec Technologies says it is now shipping its new 700 Series Color handheld Pocket PC. The company says the 700 Series is the first series of Pocket PCs designed specifically for "serious enterprise mobility."
The 700 Color model includes a large color display and runs Intel's 400MHz x-Scale processor. It also is the first Pocket PC to offer an "imager," that can read bar-codes, take photographs and capture signatures. The device is also durable enough to be able to survive repeated 5-foot drops to concrete, Intermec says.
The device also can integrate up to three wireless connectivity options in one device, including wireless LAN (802.11b), GSM/GPRS wide-area, and integrated Bluetooth. Versions with 802.11b and Bluetooth are available now. The versions with GSM/GPRS or CDMA 1xRTT wide-area radios will be available in Q4 2002, Intermec says. Go to Intermec's Web site for more details.
