Say goodbye to your CRT monitor very soon. Say hello to your LCD monitor.
Market research company DisplaySearch recently released its 2002 LCD Monitor Strategy Report. The report says LCD monitors will overtake CRT monitors in revenue this year -- and will outsell them on a unit basis in 2004. In 2006, the report says, LCD monitors will outsell CRT monitors by a 5 to 1 ratio. Also, by 2006 LCD monitors will have an 82% market share of the desktop monitor market.
Lower prices on LCD equipment is the major enabler in this growth, the report says. The average panel price per diagonal inch is forecast to decline from $19 in 2001 to $11 in 2006. The average price of a 19-inch LCD monitor is expected to fall 30% per year, DisplaySearch says.
The report is being sold to businesses starting at $4,895, but they are offering a 10% discount for customers who place an order within the next 30 days. The Table of Contents is available online here.
