Microtek International announced availability of its ScanMaker 6800 flatbed scanner with Integrated Digital ICE for Photo Prints from Applied Science Fiction (ASF), which aims to improve the quality of damaged photo prints. The scanner costs $399.99 and will ship in mid-November, Microtek said.
The integration of ASF's Digital ICE technology for photo prints lets users scan a damaged photo print and apply the technology for photo correction, Microtek said. With the technology, it can remove dust and lint while correcting most scratches and cracks found on photo print surfaces. The 6800 also offers 48-bit, 4800 by 2400 dpi resolution, and FireWire and USB 2.0 connectivity. The scanner has an 8.5- by 11-inch scan area and a built-in 4- by 5-inch transparency light plate.
Software bundled includes Adobe's Photoshop Elements; ABBYY FineReader Sprint for Optical Character Recognition; and Microtek's scan, color copy and e-mail utilities. More information is available at Microtek's Web site.
