Adaptec has released several new products that aim to make wireless networking for small office / home office users easier.

The Adaptec UltraWireless family includes five new products that offer 802.11b technology. The products include everyting from a cable/DSL router to PC cards. The products include:

  • UltraWireless Cable/DSL Router ($150): A self-contained wLAN in a box, Adaptec says. The box includes a wireless access point, router and 4-port switch.
  • UltraWireless Access Point Kit ($130): A hub for wireless traffic, this box connects to an existing wired network. Each access point includes a high-range antenna and 64- and 128-bit encryption, MAC address filtering, and password protection.
  • UltraWireless PC Card Kit ($70) lets notebook users connect to the wireless network. Peer-to-peer communication and access to shared network resources is supported by the card, Adaptec says.
  • UltraWireless PCI Kit ($100): Connects a desktop PC to the wireless network through an internal PC card.
  • UltraWireless USB Kit ($80): Connectsx a desktop PC or notebook through the USB port.
