Lexar Media is now shipping its JumpDrive 2.0 Pro, a portable flash drive that uses USB 2.0 for faster data transfer rates. Lexar Media said the JumpDrive 2.0 Pro can read data at 6.0M byte/sec., and writes at 4.5M byte/sec. The drive is available in a 256M-byte storage capacity and costs $199.99.
Lexar Media says the device can store up to four CDs of MP3 music (about 176 floppy disks), and can also transfer about 200M bytes of video files in less than 50 seconds via the USB 2.0 interface. The device is compatible with PC and Macintosh computers, supporting Windows 2000, ME, XP and Mac OS 8.6, 9 or OS X. Drivers for Windows 98 are also available at the Lexar Media Web site.
