Toshiba notebook integrates a/b wireless

Toshiba's Computer Systems Group today announced availability of its Satellite Pro 6100 series, the first notebook that has built-in 802.11a and 802.11b wireless LAN technology.

ToshibaSatellite6100.jpgThe system uses an embedded 802.11a/b chipset from Atheros Communications, Toshiba said. With 802.11a, users can achieve data rate speeds up to 54M bit/sec.

Other features of the 6100 series include an Intel Mobile Pentium 4 Processor-M at speeds up to 2.2GHz, a 15-inch diagonal display (up to UXGA resolution), and graphics cards up to 32M bytes (NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go). Other features include hard disks up to 60G bytes, up to 512M bytes of DDR RAM, DVD-R/RW multifunction drive, and Windows 2000 or XP Professional operating systems. Pricing on the systems range from $1,799 up to $2,799 depending on options.
