Network World Fusion, 01/21/03

Linksys announced it was shipping a wireless booster device that helps enhance the performance of its 2.4GHz 802.11b wireless network equipment.

Linksys Wireless Signal Booster
The Linksys Wireless Signal Booster 'stacks' upon existing Linksys wireless equipment.
The Linksys Wireless Signal Booster (WSB24) connects to a Linksys Access Point (WAP11) or Wireless Router (BEFW11S4) to help "boost" the signal for faster data transmissions at further distances, the company says. The booster costs $99 and connects to the existing systems by basically sitting on top of that equipment. A user need only unscrew the antennas from the access point or router, stack the booster on top of the equipment, then re-connect the antennas to the booster. After connecting the two devices together, the system is ready to go, Linksys says. No drivers or other modifications are needed, the company added.

Linksys says the signal booster was designed to extend the radio signal into hard-to-reach areas and filter out noise and interference. The company says the FCC has certified the booster when used with the other Linksys devices. For more information on the product, go to the Linksys Web site.

Not so great a deal. Did not boost my signal beyond 30 ft through an outside window. Would not recommend thsi product.
