I bought a W2247 desktop emachine and I want to know if it has a fax modem on it

I'm having a problem shutting down my computer.

I have a eMonster550 Pentium III, running Windows 98, I've had this computer for approximately 2 years.

Sometimes when I turn the computer off, the hard drive doesn't shut down, instead it makes a clicking sound and a spinning noise. This never stops on its own, I have to unplug the computer and even when I plug it back in again, it's still doing the same thing, so I have to push the power on button to start the computer. This problem started happening about 8 months ago.

Any suggestions on what the problem might be, and how to resolve it. As well, can you tell me how to access the BIOS, so I can check the Power Management settings?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a friend who has an emachine etower433i. It will not go into safe mode and I have tried the restore cd. I keep getting a message that the fixed drive is not present. I have tried completely fdisk and format and have used both option 1 and 2 available on the Restore CD. When I tried the recovery CD, it gave me dir error and could not write. Then, it said that the restoration was complete, but when I restarted the computer, it would again ask for the startup diskette or the CD. I can get it to boot with a Win98 startup diskette, but I still cannot get it into safe mode. Any help would be greatly appreciated. He is disabled and he uses this machine to play games on.

    Thanks

I purchased a emachine 2.5 years ago. I am now interested in taking advantage of the "never obsolete" slogan that appears on the front of my modem. The slogan states thatI can upgrade my PC to the fastest model on the market every two years for only $99.00. I am frustrated with the fact that each number that I contact requires me to give out my credit card number so that an additional fee may be assessed. What numbers are in circulations that can assist me in my dilema?

    upgrade for etower 633ids
You can get the 1.1ghz celeron cpu (I'm not sure that you can get the tualatin which is also a 1.1ghz cpu, but with 256k instead of 126. not to mention you might need the to update Bios to v3.07 email me for the site where you can dowload it. more over you might need a more powerful fan if you dont buy it with one) you can two-sided memory, pc100 or pc133, 256mb, 8 chips each side. you can put 2 of those to get 512 mg of ram

    a) can I flash the BIOS ?
    b) how/where do I get the util & the bin ?
