Epson recently launched a new projector (the PowerLite 735c) that delivers 2,000 lumens of brightness, weighs 4.4-lbs. and includes 802.11b wireless connectivity.
With the wireless technology in "ad hoc" mode, end users can transmit their PowerPoint presentation from their own wireless notebook to the projector, Epson said. In the "infrastructure" mode, users can control the projector wirelessly over a company LAN. Epson said this would let IT managers at remote locations to check the projector's status, lamp usage, as well as control power and change video sources.
The projector also includes Epson's EasyMP PC Card reader, which lets users transfer a presentation to a PC Card that can be inserted into a slot on the projector. Presentations can then be run right from the projector (including the ability to review or hide files on the projector to edit or re-arrange order of slides) without needing a PC connected. The projector is compatible with PCMCIA Flash memory cards, and an optional adapter supports Compact Flash, SmartMedia, Sony MemoryStick, Microdrive and ATA Flash cards.
The device includes 15-degree digital auto-keystone correction that automatically corrects trapezoid-shaped images without manual adjustments, Epson said. The PowerLite 735c costs $3,499 and will be available in February at nationwide retailers, the company said. For more information, go to the Epson Web site.
