Toshiba this week announced the Satellite 1415-S105, aimed at students and first-time notebook users, starting at $1,099
The system includes an Intel Celeron 1.6GHz processor, 256M bytes of SDRAM, a built-in DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go graphics card with 16M bytes of video memory, and a 15-inch diagonal TFT display.
The device also has a 20G-byte hard drive, integrated V.92 modem, three USB ports, integrated 10/100 Ethernet and optional upgrade to 802.11b wireless LAN. The notebook is available now via retail outlets and the Toshiba Web site.
Watch out for this gimmick!!! The S105 is listed at CompUSA, BestBuy, and MicroCenter as having 3 USB 2.0 ports. The spec doc at Toshiba site says USB 1.1...all three retailers state they got these specs direct from Toshiba!!! So, mine arrived at my brother's house yesterday and he will bring it back to Best Buy today. This is no small error and I imagine there are many disappointed new S105 owners.
