Addonics Technologies today launched a new Flash memory reader/writer device that lets Macintosh and PC users transfer digital media files in seven different formats. The Addonics Firewire Mini DigiDrive can transfer files up to 400M bit/sec. USB 2.0 compatibility for Addonics' Mini DigiDrive and Internal DigiDrive was also announced.
The Mini DigiDrive supports compatibility with Compact Flash (I and II), Smart Media, Memory Stick, Microdrive, MultiMedia Card (MMC) and Secure Digital (SD) card formats. Addonics said users can read and write to two different media types simultaneously (exchange data between two cards without transferring to the computer's hard drive).
The device measures 4.53- by 1.2- by 3-inches, and weighs about 5 oz., the company said. The device is powered through the computer's Firewire-compliant port. Addonics provides a standard 6-pin Firewire cable, and an adapter cable that converts 6-pin Firewire to a 4-pin iLink port. The Firewire Mini DigiDrive costs $89, the company said.
