Network World Fusion, 02/18/03

Sony announced this week a new CLIE PDA that includes a high-resolution display and integrated digital music player with an under-$300 price tag. The PEG-SJ33 handheld is expected by the end of this month -- Sony is already taking pre-orders at its CLIE Web site.

SonyCLIE-SJ33.jpgThe SJ33 includes a 66MHz processor and has an integrated translucent flip cover, Sony said. Features include the Palm OS 4.1 operating system, a built-in MP3 audio player (with the ability to store music on a Memory Stick), high-resolution TFT color display (320 by 320 pixel resolution), polyphonic audio alert feature (for appointment reminders), and support for viewing Word and Excel files on the device (through bundled Documents to Go software from DataViz. Sony also says the battery life on the SJ33 is up to 14 days, based on 30 minutes of use per day with the backlight off and not using the audio feature.
