Veo today announced a wireless network camera that lets users monitor remote locations without the need for an Ethernet port (you’ll still need a power source). The Veo Wireless Observer will be available in May for $299.99 and uses 802.11b wireless technology to connect to a user’s access point (up to 300 feet away).
Users can watch the camera’s images via Internet Explorer; the cameras also can capture audio clips in addition to video clips and still images. Audio can be captured through internal or external microphones, Veo said. The cameras also include tilt and pan control, and can send e-mail alerts when motion is detected (motion sensors cost an additional $30).
Software included lets users see multiple camera viewing (up to four cameras), and the cameras include an LCD screen that shows the IP address of the camera. For security, 128-bit WEP is supported. For more information, go to the Veo Web site.
