Netgear this week announced two new products to its Platinum Family of wireless (802.11b) LAN products. The Netgear MA111 wireless USB adapter connects to desktop PCs or notebook PCs via a USB port. The Netgear ME101 is an 802.11b Wireless Ethernet Bridge that connects Ethernet devices (including gaming consoles and Internet radio systems) to a wireless network.
The MA111 is powered via USB 1.1, and it supports 40-, 64- and 128-bit WEP encryption. The adapter works with Windows 98, ME, 2000 and XP. It costs $85 and includes five feet of USB cable for customers who want to position the device for better signal strength.
The ME101 Ethernet bridge (pictured) is wall-mountable, and includes a 4 dBi antenna to attach higher gain antennas, Netgear said. The bridge also supports 40-, 64- and 128-bit WEP encryption. The bridge costs $99.
