Network World Fusion, 07/28/03

Oregon Scientific recently announced a 1.3 megapixel digital camera as part of its thincam line. The flash thincam (DS6628) costs $149.95 and is based on SMaL Camera Technologies’ Ultra-Pocket digital camera technology. Oregon’s earlier camera, the D6618, costs $99.99 and was named “Thinnest Camera Ever” by the Guinness Book of World Records, Oregon said.

Oregon-Camera-DS6628-sm.jpgThe new camera measures 3.3- by 2.2 by 0.2-inches, and weighs 2.3 oz. It has a rechargeable 48mAH lithium polymer battery that can take up to 500 picutres between recharges, the company said. A plug-in flash strobe runs on a single AAA battery and can attach to the camera.

The camera has 16M bytes of internal memory, and attaches to a PC or Macintosh through a USB cable. The camera can store 21 pictures at the 1.3 megapixel resolution, or 91 VGA resolution (640 by 480 pixels). The camera also has a Secure Digital memory card slot for expanded memory. For more information, go to the Oregon Scientific Web site.
