Network World Fusion, 07/30/03

Lindows.com this week announced availability of its Lindows DVD Player, which includes a fully licensed decoder that lets users play commercial DVDs on LindowsOS computers. The player can also play CDs, VCDs and multimedia files such as AVI, MOV, WMV and MP3 from local disk drives, as well as streaming video (click here for a list of the multimedia formats supported).

The player costs $4.95 for Click-N-Run Warehouse members; non-members must pay $39.95 for the player. An annual membership for the Click-N-Run Warehouse is $49.95. The player is also available at IdotPC and TigerDirect. The company said that authorized Lindows.com Builders will get the option to bundle the DVD player with their computer systems that come configured with a DVD drive.
