Verbatim Corp. today said it is shipping its new Store ‘n’ Go USB 2.0 Drives. The company says the drives support up to 8M bytes/sec. read and 5M bytes/sec. write performance when connected to systems via the USB 2.0 interface. The data transfer rates translates to about 256M bytes in about 30 seconds, the company said.

VerbatimDrive.jpgThe Store ‘n’ Go drives are the about the size of an AA battery, Verbatim says, and offer storage capacities up to 1G byte. Bundled with the drive is a USB extension cable, security software (password protection and public/secure partitioning), and a lanyard for wearing the drive around your neck if you want. The drive supports Windows 98 or higher systems, and Macinosh 8.6 OS or higher. The drive can also be used with Linux 2.4.0 systems and higher.

The drives range in price from $29 (for 32M bytes) up to $349 for the 1G-byte drive. Go to the Verbatim Web site for more details.
