If you have data on an older computer that doesn't have a USB port, yet you want to transfer data to a newer computer, you are in luck. Keyspan this week announced a $29 USB Parallel Transfer Cable, now available to consumers at CDW, PC Connection and other resellers.
The cable connects to the parallel port of the old PC to a USB port of the newer PC, Keyspan says. The cable then enables file transfer and synchronization for computers where USB-to-USB, Ethernet-to-Ethernet or parallel-to-parallel connections are not available.
Users can display the content of connected PCs with a dual file tree display, and copy, move or delete files (or groups), copy files with 32-bit CRC integrity verification. The cable works with all 32-bit versions of Windows, Keyspan says. More details are available at the Keyspan Web site.
