Network World Fusion, 08/25/04

Network camera maker Axis Communications this week launched the Axis 206, aimed at users in the retail, education, small business and SOHO markets. The Axis 206 is a more compact version of the Axis 205 camera, with additional features such as improved light sensitivity and 8-language support. The camera is available now, and costs about $300.

Axis-206.jpgThe Axis 206 uses a CMOS sensor and delivers images in up to 640 by 480 pixel resolution in VGA format, with a frame rate of up to 30 frames per second in all the resolutions. It ships with the Axis Camera Explorer software, which enables users to view and record images from the network camera. It has a built-in Web server, supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), and the Axis Internet Dynamic DNS Service, which lets the network camera connect to an IP network or the Internet more easily. The Axis 206 joins two other cameras in this line, the 206W (wireless) and 206M (megapixel) network cameras.

For more details on the camera, go to the Axis Web site.
