When you're on the road, running out of power on any of your gizmos and gadgets can be a real drag. Now you can just go outside and hope for a sunny day to re-power your devices.
Eclipse Solar Gear has announced its Solar Backpack, which is designed to trickle charge the batteries of many devices, including cell phones, PDAs, handheld GPS units and some MP3 players through a solar charging system.
The company says anything that you can plug into your car with a 12V auto adapter can be trickle charged using the Solar Backpack. It features an integrated solar panel that provides up to 2.5 watts of power. The backpack also includes a padded waist belt, mesh ventilated padded back panel, padded shoulder straps, removable padded laptop case, organizer pockets, water bottle pockets and an MP3 pouch with a headphone portal exit. The solar charging module connects to the existing 12V auto adapter for whatever product you want to charge.
The backpack is available at the Eclipse Solar Web site or at Amazon.com, EBay or Yahoo! Stores for $129. The company plans to sell a messenger bag in late November or early December.
