FarStone Technology today launched its VirtualDrive Utility & Burning Suite, which lets users run games and programs without CDs or DVDs and increases their hard drive speed.
The $59.99 software is based on FarStone's VirtualDrive, which was originally launched 10 years ago. It has a Virtual Hard Drive feature that utilizes system RAM to boost file transfer speeds up to 340 times faster than a regular hard drive, enhancing the PC's performance, FarStone said. The Virtual Hard Drive mimics a RAM disk drive to store the files in non-swappable physical memory, and data is automatically saved if any changes are made to the RAM drive or if the system reboots or shuts down, the company added.
The CD/DVD emulation technology lets users store images of CD and DVD programs (games, graphics and audio/video) on the hard drive. The VirtualDrive tool lets users create virtual CDs or DVDs on their hard drive, which eliminates access time and helps improve program speeds, FarStone said.
