Just to confuse everyone this week, IOGEAR has launched some new hard drives during the same week as Iomega (see "A hard drive without a power cord").
The IOGEAR models include a 1.8-inch USB 2.0 drive and its Combo External ION hard drives (click to view). The drives are compatible with Macintosh and PC platforms, and offer transfer rates of up to 480M bit/sec. (USB 2.0) or 400M bit/sec. (Firewire). They also include an exclusive version of Dantz Retrospect backup software.
The prices range from $199.95 (for the 20G-byte USB 2.0 version) to $299.95 (for the 40G-byte USB 2.0 model). The Combo drive costs $249.95 for the 20G-byte version, and $349.95 for the 40G-byte model. IOGEAR says the devices are now available at catalog resellers, online resellers and some retail locations. More details are available at the IOGEAR Web site.
