Input peripheral manufacturer Adesso Inc. today launched two new keyboards: a line of foldable keyboards aimed at environments where moisture, bacteria, fluids and chemicals are pervasive; and an illuminated model for use in PC computing or low-light environments.

Adesso-EL-980PBFront-sm.jpgThe FOLD-2000 series costs $29.99, are available in white or blue, and connect via PS/2 or USB, Adesso says. The folding keyboards are hermetically sealed and "can be immersed in any common disinfectant to eliminate the collection of harmful agents as well as prolong the life of the keyboard itself," Adesso says. The keyboards are aimed at use in nursing stations, labs, clean rooms, mechanic shops and other outdoor or agricultural environments. The keyboard can fold and roll up for space conservation and transport. The FOLD-2000 keyboards include a 107-key layout, and weigh 0.485 pounds.

The EL-9805 keyboard (pictured) costs $39.99 and offers a blue illumination to "create a comfortable mood while helping to prevent eyestrain and headaches, known as computer vision syndrome," Adesso says. The keyboard includes short-cut keys for Internet Home page, e-mail, back, forward, search, refresh, and Webcam/Media player. The keyboard has a PS/2 interface, translucent keys and offers soft tactile feedback. The system works with Windows 98 SE systems and above.

More information is available at the Adesso Web site.
