Network World Fusion, 01/16/03

If you are thinking about buying a big-screen TV in time for the Super Bowl (we're not that excited since the Patriots aren't in it this year), head over to the Consumer Reports Web site. The magazine is offering a free report to help consumers find a TV set.

Consumer Reports says the free report includes details on specific models, in addition to advice on picture quality, usability and sound quality on big-screen TVs. Click on the "Free Highlights" section of the Web site to access the report. The report is part of a 19-page package on televisions that will be available on newsstands on Feb. 11.

LOOKING FOR A 52 TO 57 PROJECTION TV WITH HIGH PICTURE QUAILTY

Posted by: dan on December 16, 2003 12:16 AM

Why isn't everyone even looking at hitachi big screens? Not only are they rated high on consumer reports for their excellent picture quality, features, and the "least frequent repair rate" but I myself would only buy hitachi. I sell tv's myself, and I get panasonics, jvcs, mits, toshiba and sony tvs returned all the time. I haven't had one hitachi returned. Hitachi backs their product better than any other competitor, (including a 2 year warranty on the tube, and one on labor, and the prices and models vary to suit everyone. Why not buy Hitachi?

I am looking to purchase a HDTV, possibly a 51" widescreen rear-projection. Which models are the best for the money? I know viability is low if you are not viewing from head-on but some are better than others. Please let me know which models are best.
