Other World Computing recently launched two new CD-RW external FireWire drives with speeds of 52x. The company says the devices will let users burn a CD in less than 90 seconds.
The 52x-speed Mercury Pro drives work with both Macintosh and Windows-based PCs that have FireWire or USB support, the company said. The drives also include 25 CD-R disks, one CD-RW disk, and Roxio Toast Lite 5.2.x software, and cabling. The drives can write to 550M-byte (63 minute), 650M-byte (74 minute) and 700M-byte (80 minute) disks, and can do over-burn writes of up to 99 minutes, Other World said.
The external drive with FireWire costs $159.99. The FireWire/USB 2.0/1.1 version costs $179.99. The company also has 48x-speed drives in external FireWire combinations that start at $139.99. Go to the Other World Computing Web site for more details.
