Network World Fusion, 02/10/03

Verbatim Corp. recently released a new high-speed external USB 2.0 52x-speed CD-RW drive. The drive, which costs $129, extends the speeds of Verbatim's internal CD-RW drives to the external form factor.

Features include drag-and-drop CD rewriting and "on-the-fly" formatting of disks, the company said. The drive can burn about 700M bytes of data or digital music files onto a CD in under three minutes, Verbatim said. Bundled software includes Nero's CD recording software and the InCD packet writing software, as well as MusicMatch and a trial version of NTI Backup Now!

We purchased this product and there is no driver software for it in the package. Instead there was a third party's cd, ... yeah there was NERO.

I bought this drive, and can't seem to use any other software besides going into nero and using the Express, I can only use Nero Express basically and not anything else to burn...I emailed the company, and I didn't get a reply back, but are their any drivers available for this drive, cuz it's kinda frustrating.

I cannot get XP Home edition to see my Verbatim 52x-speed CD-RW internal drive.

Any suggestions?

I also had similar problems. Try to return it, especially if you are thinking about using it for backup. Pls let me know when you find a solution that works.
