HP today announced four new Pavilion desktops that include rewritable CD or DVD drives, and a new series of notebooks that include DVD+R/+RW drives. HP says that one of the desktop models is the first desktop PC with a DVD+RW drive for under $900.
The line includes the HP Pavilion 505n, 515n, 725n and the 735n. The 505n includes an Intel Celeron 2.2GHz processor, a 60G-byte hard drive, 256M-bytes of DDR RAM, a 48x-speed CD-RW drive and integrated Intel Extreme UMA graphics card with 64M-bytes of shared video memory. The 505n will cost $519, and become available on April 6, HP says.
The new notebook series, the Pavilion ze5300 series, include drives with the DVD+R/+RW format. The notebooks come with a choice of Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron desktop processors, up to 512M-bytes of RAM, up to 80G-bytes of hard drive space, 802.11b integrated wireless, and three USB 2.0 ports (as well as an option for IEEE 1394 port). Pricing varies, but a notebook with a 2.66GHz Intel Pentium 4 processor, with 512M-bytes of RAM, a 40G-byte hard drive, integrated wireless, a DVD+R/+RW drive and a 15-inch SXGA+ display starts at $1,725, HP says.
