Speaking of Kanguru, the company also recently released a 250G-byte external hard drive that includes USB 2.0 and FireWire connectivity options in one unit. The KanguruQuickSilver Combo weighs about 2 lbs., and can transfer data at 700-M to 800M-bytes per minute when connected via USB 2.0 (about 800M- to 900M-bytes per minute via FireWire).
The drive supports Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP, Mac OS 9 and above, as well as various Linux operating systems. The drives start at $189, with varying storage rates from 40G-bytes up to 250G-bytes. For more information, go to the Kanguru Web site.
