Plextor offers new DVD drive

Plextor today announced a new external DVD/CD burner that supports both the DVD+R and DVD+RW formats, as well as USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 interfaces.

Plextor-PX-504UF.gifThe PX-504UF DVD+R/RW drive supports 4x-speed DVD+R writing, 2.4x-speed DVD+RW rewriting, 12x-speed DVD reading (DVD-ROM), 16x-speed CD writing and 40x-speed CD reading (CD-ROM). The drive is expected to ship in June and starts at $329 (retail). You can reserve the drive at Plextor’s Web site.

Bundled software with the drive includes Roxio’s Easy CD Creator 5.3 DVD Edition, PhotoSuite 5 SE and Toast 5 Lite, Plextor said. The Roxio software also includes DVD Builder, a DVD authoring application.
