At least two wireless LAN equipment vendors this week announced WPA availability on their 802.11b and 802.11g products.
Linksys said WPA was available on its Wireless-G PC Card (WPC54G) and its Wireless-B PC Card (WPC11 v.3). Current Linksys customers can download a firmware upgrade from this Linksys Web site. The WPA support is being integrated into new production units, Linksys says, so that new products will not need the firmware download.
Buffalo Technology said its WPA firmware upgrade would be available for its AirStation 54M bit/sec. Wireless Broadband Base Station (WBR-G54), the AirStation G54 Wireless Notebook Adapter (WLI-CB-G54A), and the AirStation Wireless PCI client adapter card (WLI-PCI-G54). Firmware upgrades for the base station and router can be downloaded here. The firmware upgrade for client adapter cards can be downloaded here.
