Verizon Wireless and Mobile-Mind today launched a new application that lets people learn American Sign Language (ASL) on their cell phone. The ASL Fingerspelling application is available through Verizon’s Get It Now service and works on those BREW-enabled phones.
The application lets users study and quiz themselves on the 26 letters of the ASL alphabet via images displayed on their phones. The application also lets users view animated Fingerspelling of any word up to 32 characters, Mobile-Mind said. The company is also developing an application that will feature animated ASL words and phrases. The Fingerspelling application can be downloaded for $2.49 for unlimited usage. For more information, go to the Mobile-Mind Web site or Verizon Wireless Web site.
