Olympus America debuted two new products today for digital camera enthusiasts – a 512M-byte xD-Picture Card, and USB-based Reader/Writer that lets users transfer images stored on an xD Picture Card to a notebook or desktop computer.

OlympusXDCard512MB.jpgOlympus already makes xD cards in 16M-, 32M-, 64M-, 128M- and 256M-byte flavors. The 512M-byte card will be available at the end of July for $359.95 (street price expected around $279.95). The xD card has the capability of supporting the Panorama feature on most Olympus digital cameras, the company said.

The xD card reader/writer (MAUSB-100) is a USB-based token style device with a slot for the xD card, and a USB port to connect to a computer. The device weighs only 13 grams, and can clip onto a keychain for quick mobility. The device supports USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices for transferring files. The reader/writer will be available in September, and supports Mac OS 9.0 and higher, and Windows 98 and higher. The reader writer will cost $39.95, with a $29.95 expected street price, Olympus said.
