Network World Fusion, 07/25/03

Nec-515.jpgNEC announced this week that its 515 High Definition Mobile+ (HDM) handset would be available in AT&T Wireless retail locations. The clamshell-style phone includes a 2.2-inch color display with 65,000 plus colors, 40-note polyphonic ring tones, and a version of Java (called DoJA), which was created for a mobile environment by Sun Microsystems and NTT DoCoMo, NEC said. The phone will be available at AT&T Wireless stores on July 28, the company said.

For enterprise users, the phone includes support for the Vuico GoWireless Mobile Messaging platform, to provide secure, real-time access to Exchange, Lotus Domino and POP3 messaging systems.

Users will be able to customize applications on the phone through AT&T’s m-mode service, as well as a specialized portal that NEC has set up. Users will also be able to download apps for the 515 from Dwango Wireless.
