Network World Fusion, 07/30/03

Actiontec said today it is shipping two new 802.11g wireless LAN products (an access point and PC Card) that are fully compliant with the new standard, which means its products do not need any firmware or software upgrades.

Actiontec-54G-card.gifThe PC Card ($79.95) includes a discovery utility that lets users find other access points in the network, to help find the best location for wireless. On the access point ($129.95) is software that lets the access point find other Actiontec access points and get the IP address to remotely configure each new access point. The products also support networking and management features, including SNMP, IP filtering and roaming, Actiontec said.

The company said it plans on releasing an 802.11g wireless gateway (with an ADSL modem), an 802.11g router, and an Ethernet Adapter (PCI-based) later this year.
