Aspire Digital this week announced the AD-2100PLUS speaker system, which can operate as a receiverless home theater system, as well as a 5.1 surround sound system for a computer. The system is aimed at users who do not already have a receiver or DVD player connected to a TV, but still want high-quality audio playback, Aspire Digital said.
The $299.99 system includes the AD-100MTRS surround-sound mini-tower and center speaker set, the AD-130PSC powered subwoofer, and the AD-1100 progressive scan DVD player that includes a bonus karaoke feature. The DVD player can play disks of several different formats, including audio and video CDs, DVD, CD, CD-R/RW, CD+G, JPEG, MP3 and Kodak Picture CDs. Other features include Dolby 5.1 digital audio output, DTS digital audio output and a Dolby Digital AC-3 decoder. It also includes both NTSC and PAL formats for worldwide compatibility, the company said. Finally, the system also includes two microphones and a specially formatted CD+G disk to get users started with their karaoke collection and their American Idol dreams.
