Olympus America recently launched a new 5 megapixel digital camera, the successor to its C-4000 Zoom camera. The C-5000 Zoom includes a new body design that's 20% smaller, a 3x optical zoom lens, and a "hot shoe" for more flash capabilities, the company said. The camera will cost $499 (street price, $599.95 MSRP) and will be available in October 2003.

OlymusC-5000.jpgThe 5.0 megapixel CCD offers the ability to create prints up to 11- by 14-inches, Olympus said. The zoom features include 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom for 12x total zoom. The camera also includes a threaded ring (an adapter is required) that lets users add other lenses or filters. The C-5000 includes a USB Auto-Connect cable, and offers both automatic and manual controls (plus six different "creative scene modes").

For more information on the camera, go to the Olympus America Web site.
