Sharp Systems of America this week announced two new LCD monitors with some pretty cool features. The new 15- and 17-inch LTM monitors include built-in TV tuners, remote control functionality and a widescreen-like form factor. Not just for computers anymore, the new monitors can be used with media centers, game consoles, security monitors, or simply as a television.

Sharp17-Inch-LTM.jpgThe LL-M17W1 ($749, available now, pictured at left) monitor is a high definition, 17-inch monitor that supports WXGA resolution (1366 by 768 pixels). The monitor includes a 600:1 contrast ratio, and a 450-nit brightness. The monitor also has a refresh rate of 25 ms and can display about 16.19 million colors, Sharp said. A picture-in-picture function lets a user watch TV while working on a computer application. Supported interfaces include RCA (composite video), S-Video, and component video. There is also a TV antenna/cable input, as well as audio in/out ports. Finally, there’s a carrying handle for the monitor to let users carry it around to different areas of the house or office.

The LL-M15X1 ($449, available now) is a high definition, 15-inch monitor that supports XGA resolution (1,024 by 768 pixels), and has 300 nits of brightness and a 350:1 contrast ratio. The monitor supports 16.19 million colors and has a refresh rate of 25 ms, Sharp said. Also included are built-in stereo speakers, RCA inputs, S-Video ports, audio in/out ports and a TV antenna/cable input.
