Apple announced today that Mac OS X version 10.3 (also known as “Panther”) will be available on Friday, October 24 at 8 p.m. The OS will cost $129 for a single user license. Users can pre-order the OS at Apple’s online store starting today. A “family pack” that includes five user licenses for a single residence, will cost $199.
The company said Panther includes 150 new features, including a new Finder that gives users one-click access to their favorite files and folders; Expose, a new way that lets users instantly see all open windows at once; and iChat AV, a desktop video conferencing application.

The OS also includes the latest versions of iSync, iCal, iPhoto, iMovie, the iTunes Music Store and the new Apple Web browser, Safari.
The OS requires a minimum of 128M bytes, and will run on the following products – iMac, iBook, Power Macintosh G3, Power Mac G4 and the Power Mac G4 Cube, as long as there is built-in USB support, Apple said.
