One of my meetings today was with Buffalo Technology, which announced a $59 (street price) print server that connects to a USB printer and Ethernet network to provide printer capabilities for households or small businesses that want to print without having a printer dedicated to a single PC.
The Network USB Print Server (LPV2-USB-TX1) features a USB 1.1 port and a 10/100 Ethernet port, and installs via a Web-based management interface. Support for the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) is available on the device. The device will be available in January 2004, Buffalo officials said.
Back to Cool ToolsHi,
I have a printer and fax all in one. Will i be able to use the fax if it's connected to your print server.

That's what I've been looking for, for over a year now. The HP print servers usually only run parallel and cost over 150 USD. Now if I want to share a printer, I have to turn on the computer that controls it.
Posted by: Paul Dow on November 18, 2003 09:39 AMDoes it come with a USB cable? that seems to be the new thing for printer makers to leave out of the box, and could add $25 to the price if bought seperately.

Posted by: dwx on November 18, 2003 10:30 AMwhile it is definitely a cheap move to not include a USB cable, it would be ridiculous to pay $25 for one. CompUSA or other major retailers may charge that much, but I have bought them for $3.99 at several local vendors. Retail price is only intended for people that are not familiar with the products.
Posted by: informed on November 18, 2003 08:46 PMi've been wanting one of these for Mac OSX, the only one i've seen is from IOGEAR:
http://www.iogear.com/products/product.php?Item=GPSU01
but they say it only works on OSX with postscript printers
look forward to seeing the Buffalo product.
Posted by: rak on November 19, 2003 01:08 PMI spoke with the Buffalo officials, they said a USB cable (and Ethernet cable) will be included for the same $59 price. Defintely looks like this is a bargain.
