Network World Fusion, 02/11/04

SANDisk-4GB-CFcard.jpgSanDisk today launched a 4G-byte Compact Flash card aimed at digital camera users. The card will be able to store up to 2,000 high-resolution pictures, more than 1,000 digital music files or up to 8 hours of MPEG-4 video, the company said. The card will cost $999, and begin shipping in April.

The card includes technology that will support cameras that use either the FAT16 (older models) or FAT32 file formats, the company said. The card will include a three-position switch on the left side of the card so consumers can switch between a single 4G-byte volume (for FAT32 cameras) or two separate 2G-byte (FAT16) volumes. Initial shipments of the card will include a two-FAT16 partition configuration, SanDisk said.

More details on the card are available at the SanDisk Web site.
