Network World Fusion, 02/16/04

It was only the third demonstration of the day, but I've already got a leading contender for my favorite product seen here at the show.

flipstartpc.jpgVulcan Inc. showed off its FlipStart PC, a fully functional Windows XP device that fits in the palm of your hand and includes great connectivity and performance features.

Weighing less than 1 pound, the FlipStart PC is a clamshell-style device that includes a thumb-style keypad that lets users Internet surf, navigate through documents or just to respond to e-mail.

The specifications on the device are impressive -- it has a 1GHz processor, 256M bytes of RAM, a 30G-byte hard drive, a 5.6-inch HDTV-style display (1,024 by 600 resolution), 3-D graphics with 8M bytes of video RAM, an internal 1.3 megapixel digital camera, USB 2.0 port, and 802.11 b/g wireless connectivity.

Pricing and availability were not yet announced.
