When we think about Guinness World Records, we think about the guy with the six-feet fingernails, or those two fat guys riding motorcycles. But there is a recent world record in the technology field worth mentioning.
Toshiba's Storage Device Division today announced that Guinness has certified that its 0.85-inch hard disk drive as the smallest hard disk drive in the world. The disk drive will be featured in the 2005 edition of the Book of World Records, aimed for a September 2004 release.
The hard drive supports capacities of 2 to 4G bytes, and was released earlier this year, Toshiba said. Mass production of the hard drive for manufacturers is expected later in the fall. For more details about Toshiba's hard drives, go to its Web site.
