Network World Fusion, 03/29/04

Buffalo Technology today launched a new 802.11g wireless router that includes its one-button secure wireless LAN setup process, known as AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSS).

Buffalo-WBR2_G54.jpgThe AirStation 54Mbps Wireless Cable/DSL Router with AOSS (WBR2-G54) includes a built-in DHCP server, four 10/100 Ethernet ports and works with both DSL and cable modems. The AOSS technology aims to detect and configure other AOSS-enabled devices and create a secure detection when the user presses a button, Buffalo said.

The router also includes WDS (for bridging and repeating), and external antenna support for extending the range of the WLAN. Other security features include Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) support, an intrusion detector, privacy separator, dynamic packet filtering, Network Address Translation (NAT) and a stateful packet inspection (SPI) firewall.

The device will cost about $100 and will be available in the beginning of April, Buffalo says. The device will have a limited two-year warranty. For more details, go to the Buffalo Technology Web site.
