I love it when two technologies converge (or "collide," as the case may be). The latest converged device is an all-in-one Digital Light Processing projector with a DVD player for home theater usage from Pixa, Inc. Instead of connecting your DVD player via wires, check this system out, where you can pop in the DVD directly into the projector.

Pixa-DHT-100.jpgThe Pixa DHT-100 All-in-One DLP Home Theater System is an 8.4-pound projector that also includes a 2.4GHz wireless speaker kit (optional) so you can hear the movie without connecting speaker wire to the system. The projector can deliver images from 37-inches up to 285-inches, has a 1800:1 contrast ratio, can display in both 4:3 and 16:9 (widescreen) aspect ratios, and has 1,300 lumens of brightness.

The projector's DVD player can also play VCDs, CDs, interactive VCDs, S-VCDs, MPEG-1 and JPEG files. The system also has a digital media player that supports six media card formats (Memory Stick, Compact Flash, Secure Digital, Smart Media, IBM MicroDrive and MultiMedia Card), which lets you display photos or videos, or listen to MP3 files stored on the memory card.

The DHT-100 costs $1,999 (suggested retail), and will be available at the end of this month. For more details, go to the Pixa Web site.
