On the heels of its announcement of two other new network cameras (the Power over Ethernet Axis 211 and the megapixel Axis 206M, Axis Communications today launched their third new camera, the Wi-Fi-enabled Axis 206W wireless network camera.
The 206W uses 802.11b to eliminate the need for a network cable when installing or using the camera. The device also has a built-in Web server and supports Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). The camera comes with Axis Camera Explorer software, and can also use Axis' free Internet Dynamic DNS.
The $299 camera provides images up to 640 by 480 (VGA) resolution, with a frame rate of up to 30 frames per second in any resolution, Axis said. The camera will be available in July through Axis distribution channels. More details are available at the Axis Web site.
