ViewSonic Corp. this week showed off three new front projection displays aimed at business professionals. The new models include the 2.1-pound PJ255D ($1,999), the 5.9-pound PJ520 ($1,499), and the ultra-bright PJ1165 ($4,299).
The micro-portable PJ255D (pictured) uses Texas Instruments Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology and features a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, support for 1,024 by 768 (XGA) pixel resolution, and has 1,100 lumens of brightness. The device features a zoom lens that lets users change the screen size with the lens ring instead of moving the projector, and also includes a "whisper-quiet" fan to help extend the life of the lamp and for quieter presentations. The projector supports 720p and 1080i HDTV signals, and has picture-in-picture support.
The PJ520 (click for picture) is an SVGA projector (800 by 600 resolution) that has 2,000 lumens of brightness, manual zoom and focus, horizontal and vertical keystone corrections, and dual RGB inputs that lets users connect two PCs or another video device for multimedia presentations (such as a DVD player). An RGB output port is also included for monitor pass through usage.
The PJ1165 (click for picture) is a high-end projector designed for wall or ceiling installations, and includes 3,500 lumens of brightness. The monitor has an 800:1 contrast ratio, XGA native resolution, picture-in-picture support, progressive scan and "whisper mode" features. The device comes with a remote for mouse control and laser pointer usage. The PJ1165 also includes remote management capabilities for projector controls and diagnostic purposes, ViewSonic said.
