Network World Fusion, 11/10/04

Xingtone today launched version 4.0 of its mobile phone ring tone creation software, which now includes support for Verizon Wireless as well as all other major U.S. carriers, the company said.

The new version includes audio editing features that aim to make it easier for users to make personal ring tones. Features such as normalization, cross fades and clipping have been added to the software. Users can also now record their own voice and sound effects with a new microphone tool. A new interface includes larger icons, recent play lists, unlimited undo, volume controls and automatic updating, Xingtone said.

The software also supports new audio formats, including WMA, Ogg Vorbis, AVI and AIIF (the software already supports MP3, WAV and CD audio). More than 75 phones are now supported across the networks of Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS, AT&T Wireless, Cingular and T-Mobile.

The software costs $19.95 and lets you create an unlimited number of ringtones with your own audio. Version 3.0 users can upgrade for $9.95 until Nov. 15. A free trial with custom ring samples is also available for download. Head to the Xingtone Web site for more details on the software.
