Want to be a hit at the Christmas party this year? Bring out one of these RolleiFlex cameras and then explain to them that this is a digital camera.
The two lenses, the hand crank lever, shutter release, hooded viewfinder, exposure meter and coal-black casing are all incorporated into the new RolleiFlex MiniDigi, now available through camera retailers for about $350. While the camera may look old-fashioned, it includes digital camera technology such as a Secure Digital memory card slot, white balance technology, a 2 megapixel sensor, and LCD color screen. The pop-up hood and viewfinder are uniquely designed to prevent stray light from getting in the way. In addition, the hand crank works, but not to advance film -- it is used to prepare the camera for the next shot, Rollei says. Another unique item is photos are taken in a square format, which means the photographer doesn't have to choose between a vertical or horizontal layout.
More information is available at the Rollei Web site.
