IBM is stepping up its virtualization offerings with technology focused on moving applications among systems.
Last week, the company announced that it was buying Meiosys. Meiosys has an interesting technology. It can relocate running applications because its MetaCluster software virtualizes systems at the application level, separating applications, connections and processes from hardware. IBM is one of several systems vendors, including HP and Sun, who already have a relationship with Meiosys. IBM says it will integrate the MetaCluster technology into new products that should be available by the end of the year. Get more detail here.
